The Lynnwood, Wa Office Moms & Dads, together with Sowing Roots and Fostering Together, are hosting a gigantic holiday party for foster kids this December! Activities include a surprise visit from Santa Claus himself, pizza and cookie decorating, a “Toy Shop” where families can choose from a selection of brand new toys to gift to their Littles, and plenty of extravagant bouncing off the walls.
In true OMD fashion, what began as a private Ugly Sweater Pub Crawl for friends several years ago has grown into a collaborative community effort that brings joy and comfort to kids in Care. Attendees of the Pub Crawl were asked to bring a new toy to the party as a donation toward local foster children. Attendance to the pub crawl has grown over the years, and so has the number of presents received. Gifts are organized by age and brought to the foster care Holiday party where foster families can “shop” FOR FREE and have their presents gift wrapped by a volunteer. Leftover gifts are donated to the Lynnwood DSHS office and given to children throughout the year. Last year the group provided presents for 35 local foster children. This year, their goal is 60!
This event is funded in part by the Close to My Heart Fund from the Snohomish County Community Foundation. Many thanks to them and the entire community for coming together for the sake of our kids and the families who care for them! For more information please contact Erin at LynnwoodOMD@gmail.com
