Caring for Children Entering Foster Care

On-call volunteers allow social workers the time they need to do their jobs more efficiently. The volunteers ease the wait time for children who have just been removed from their homes, while getting the community engaged in foster care. Our volunteers are an essential part of the success of OMD; without them we would not be able to fulfill our mission to sit with, entertain and care for children entering foster care.

Volunteers have always been an essential part of the Office Moms & Dads community. They contribute thousands of service hours by providing supervision of children who are awaiting placement after an emergent removal, while also being an extra resource of volunteers for child welfare offices to call upon when needing extra help for events in the community such as School Supply and Coat Drives, Holiday Parties, Foster Parent Appreciation Events and many more. OMD hopes that volunteers who get involved in foster care at an entry level, might eventually become a full-fledged licensed foster home.
